Rockland Fencers Club Was Hard At Work Over The Weekend
Over the weekend the Regional Youth Circuit held an event at the Rockland Community College and hundreds of fencers under the age of 14 competed. The RFC had both new and experienced fencers at the event and all worked hard and had a strong day. A special congratulations go out to Elizabeth McNamara who competed in her first tournament in Y12 Womens Epee.
Elizabeth fenced a strong pool round winning 3 bouts and losing 2. Elizabeth went on to win her first direct elimination 15-9 and move into the round of 8 where she lost her next bout, and finished the tournament in 6th place.
Michael Kang and James Hughs also competed strong both getting experience, as Michael in particular used the tournament as a warm up for the National tournament in Kansas City this coming weekend (11/13-16). Michael will be competing in Y14 Mens Epee (where he has medaled before) and cadet mens epee. Also competing in Kansas City will be Frank Sapienza fencing in Cadet and Junior Mens Epee.
Good luck to all our fencers next weekend and keep up the hard work.
